What an experience !

After a very bad start on Thursday where we lost our two first games 5-0 against strong teams (guardians last year world champs) we then met two teams from the bottom of the table which offer us the chance to score back. Using Podium the goal difference counts. We finish the day with a game against Dead Rappers, Luca’s team with who I play every week so knowing him well was a advantage which nearly paid as we only lost 1-0. We finish in a temporary 16 position which placed us into the B group of 30 teams for Friday morning, of which only the top 14 would go through for Saturday double elimination.

On Friday, the results were not reinitialised, so by the end of the day we would have played 12 swiss rounds in total to generate a “accurate” ranking of all the teams. Our first game is against Goal Digger against which we lost 3-2 during the wildcard but this time we were more efficient and won by 2-0. The game against Alexandro’s team from Spain was though and we got scored three times. We drew the following two matches 2-2 which didn’t help our ranking much and not our current negative goal difference score ! Then comes what we thought was going to be our last game against a french team, and we really wanted to win this one. We took the lead shortly after the beginning but they were pushing a lot and wanted to win as much as us, maybe more as they managed to score their 3rd and winning goal 20s before the end. At this point we were really disappointed because that game was really close and we should have won and we were now down far in the rankings (~18). But there was one last game ! And thanks to podium, the system calculated that we should play another team with similar results from the bottom of the table. It was a team from america which we easily destroyed 5-0 and this very last positive result of +5 goals bumped us greatly in the rankings up to 9th place ! A few other round 12 games were still needed to be played before the final result but we worked out that we should be fine and couple of minutes later John H announced the teams qualified and Guacapolo was 11th and through on Saturday !!
